Earlier this month, on October 3–4, the Gullah Traveling Theater, Inc. (GTTI) took the stage at Whale Branch Early College High School in Beaufort, SC, for a private filming of its newest production, Da’ Gullah American Revolution Experience, in partnership with South Carolina ETV (SCETV).
The SCETV production team—led by Senior Producer Ricky Taylor and Documentary and Multimedia Producer Betsy Newman—are longtime friends of GTTI, having traveled with us to Sierra Leone, West Africa in 2019 for the Gullah Geechee Homecoming, which inspired the 2020 documentary Gullah Roots.
More than 50 cast and crew members came together to bring this powerful story to life as we prepare to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution in 2026. SCETV is now completing post-production for an upcoming statewide broadcast.
Until then, you can experience Da’ Gullah American Revolution Experience live on stage:
Beaufort, SC – June 27 & 28, 2026 at the USCB Performing Arts Center
Bluffton, SC – July 18 & 19, 2026 at the May River Theater
